Recently, I was browsing a BJ’s warehouse store and of course I had to check out the beauty aisle. I saw some pretty nice stuff there, including Cetaphil, Neutrogena, and Aveeno products (but, alas, none of the Aveeno Pure Renewal Conditioner I like). I found myself automatically assuming that the prices at BJ’s were better than anywhere else. But is this assumption based on anything other than my intuition? To find out, let’s conduct a price comparison of something I spotted in the beauty aisle at BJ’s: a two-pack of Aveeno “absolutely ageless” moisturizers (one for day and one for night).

Glycolic peel pads comparison: Dr. Dennis Gross vs. CVS Skin + Pharmacy

One of the products that was recommended to me during my Sephora mini-facial was Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel. My skin felt slightly irritated, but my mini facialist assured me that it was a great way to smooth out my acne scars. Of course, when I got home, I looked up the price of this product and was pretty shocked—$88 for 35 treatments? No thanks. However, the price isn’t actually that bad, since you don’t have to use it every day (my mini-facialist recommended using it just once a day, a few times a week).

A few thoughts on buying skincare online vs. in a brick-and-mortar

Lately, I’ve been thinking about the pros and cons of buying stuff online vs. in a brick-and-mortar store. I probably shop online a lot more than many other people, mostly because of (a) where I live, and (b) how lazy I am. Here are the main reasons why I do most of my shopping online:
I don’t have a car, which means that I have to carry everything back home.
