Softsoap Advanced Clean Hand Soap review

Lately, I’ve been thinking more and more about making the switch to a solid bar of soap for washing my hands. The packaging is more eco-friendly and the product itself is potentially more suitable for my hand eczema. Liquid hand soaps generally contain more preservatives (because they contain water), whereas it’s typically easier to find a gentle, non-irritating solid bar soap like Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar.
However, before I make the switch, I need to do a few things: buy a soap dish and use up my current supply of liquid hand soap.

Fragrance-free hand soaps are hard to spot. For some reason, companies don’t think people will accept hand soaps unless they smell nice. I wish we had more options. A while ago, I accidentally bought Target Up & Up Classic Clean Clear Hand Soap without realizing that it contained fragrance. When it arrived, I didn’t want to waste it so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it aggravated my eczema and reinforced the idea that I should look for better hand soap options, especially in these times, when we need to be extra careful about washing our hands for the full 20 seconds.

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser review

When my skin is flipping out, I pare down my routine to just the basics: face wash, sunscreen (during the daytime), and moisturizer. Absolutely no fragrances or acids—just the plainest possible versions of everything I can find. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser was my face wash of choice last time I overdid it on a clay mask and my skin protested with dry, red, blotchy patches.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser ingredients Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser has a pretty simple ingredient list, with glycerin (a moisturizing agent) and sodium laureth sulfate (a common surfactant/cleanser/foam creator found in many drugstore shampoos like Suave) at the top.

If you use a lot of hair products like hairsprays, gels, waxes, and the like—or if you just want your scalp to feel squeaky clean—there is a whole product category targeted to you: clarifying shampoo. Clarifying shampoos are usually formulated with strong detergents like lauryl sulfates or laureth sulfates. They are designed for normal to oily hair, and help remove product buildup from your scalp and hair. However, they are typically too strong for color-treated hair, or dry/frizzy hair, since they contain strong detergents.

I just got back from a weeklong vacation in Maui, where I spent most of my nights at the Grand Wailea resort. This is a really impressive hotel—the landscaping and gardens are amazing, and once you combine all that with the ocean view, it’s simply breathtaking. Parts of the hotel felt almost Italian or European, with the terra cotta colored tiles. I’m a light packer—between the pair of us, we brought two backpacks, one carry-on roller bag, and one tote bag.

I received a jar of Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask as a Christmas gift last year. It’s something I was definitely curious to try, because this mask is “carbonated,” so it causes you to feel a bubbling sensation during the first few minutes of application. It’s fun to use, but I probably won’t be repurchasing this mask. Read on to find out why.

Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask Ingredients water, cocomidopropyl betaine, kaolin, acrylates copolymer, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, methylperfluoroisobutyl ether, sodium laureth sulfate, lauramide DEA, TEA-cocoyl glutamate, camellia sinensis leaf extract, glycerin, dipropylene glycol, bentonite, collagen, charcoal powder, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, fragrance, carbonated water, xanthan gum, disodium EDTA, allantoin, butylene glycol, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) extract, monarda didyma leaf extract, mentha piperita Plus, it is formulated with a bunch of skin-clarifying ingredients like two types of clay, collagen, and charcoal powder, which can help clear up the skin and make it less oily.
