I never quite know what’s going to trigger an eczema flareup, but I do know that treating the early signs of a flareup makes a huge difference for me. Whenever I start getting small cracks in my hands, I know I can’t just follow my regular regimen (slathering on Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion at night and rarely moisturizing throughout the day) and expect things to miraculously get better. I need to up my game so that my skin doesn’t start to freak out.
On a recent trip, I bought a bottle of Coppertone Sport Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 specifically for my outdoor workouts. True to its “Sport” claim, this sunscreen offered long-lasting coverage, even when I was sweating bullets (unfortunately, I sweat profusely when I work out). Although it’s a decent sunscreen that will do in a pinch, I think there are better mineral sunscreens out there, so I will probably not repurchase this after I’ve used up the bottle.
Cetaphil has a great reputation as a maker of some of the world’s most beloved moisturizers. Their moisturizing lotion is a favorite around here, so I was excited to hear that they introduced a mineral liquid facial sunscreen. SPF 50, water-resistant, and fragrance-free? Yes, yes, and yes. And it’s entirely based on zinc oxide, which is the FDA-approved sunscreen ingredient that is best for sensitive skin, according to my dad. But wait a minuteāit’s a mineral sunscreen, so will…
