As someone who has eczema (mainly on my hands), I’m always looking for ways to reduce exposure to irritants. Since I wash my hair almost every day, I realized that I should probably start looking for a fragrance-free shampoo—after all, your scalp is also part of your skin, and you apply shampoo with your hands. But sadly, it’s been my experience that fragrance-free hair care products are surprisingly difficult to find.
My hair grows super slowly. This means that I get to save time and money by getting fewer haircuts (I only get it cut two or three times a year) and hair coloring treatments, but it also means that my hair starts looking lifeless and dull pretty quickly, because it’s been hanging around so long. I always had terrible hair all through high school, and it got better after I moved to NYC. I always figured it was the result of outgrowing this bad hair phase of my life, but I realized that it was probably just the dry climate in Los Angeles, where I lived at the time.
