Odele Fragrance-free Conditioner review
This conditioner is fragrance free and suitable for people with sensitive scalps.
I try to use fragrance-free hair care products whenever possible, just because I have to apply them with my hands and my eczema gets worse when it’s exposed to potential irritants like fragrances. But it’s really tough to find shampoos and conditioners that are fragrance free and effective. When I do find a fragrance-free product, it’s pretty basic. Meanwhile, all the other shampoos and conditioners claim to help boost shine, moisturize hair, and more. To get a product that doesn’t contain fragrances, why do you have to sacrifice those other benefits, too? Can’t people just make the same shampoos and conditioners without the addition of fragrances? It’s really frustrating. That’s why I was excited to give this fragrance-free conditioner a try. I was pleased to find that it delivered a luxurious experience without the strong fragrances that usually accompany those types of “salon-quality” products.

My Dad the Chemist’s review of Odele Fragrance-Free Conditioner
I asked my dad what he thought of this conditioner, and also asked him if he had thoughts on why more companies didn’t make fragrance-free hair products. Here’s what he said…
Dear Emily, it looks like a great formula with good conditioning and moisturization. I think most people want their hair to smell good, especially to cover the sweat odor after exercising or hot weather. I think there are quite a few people like you and me that have sensitive skin or allergies, who rather choose fragrance free version if available.
Love, Dad
It sounds like it’s a matter of convincing companies that we need more fragrance free versions of hair products. Not all of us are concerned with covering up odors in our hair…some of us just want to find high-quality products that won’t irritate us. It’s great that this product is available at a national retailer like Target, because those of us with sensitive skin (and scalps) need access to more fragrance-free products at affordable prices.
Odele Fragrance-Free Conditioner review
This conditioner has officially been accepted by the National Eczema Association. You can see a full list of their accepted products here. As a whole, all of Odele’s products are free of phthalates, not just the fragrance-free ones. As far as texture goes, it’s on the thicker side, but it’s not the thickest conditioner I’ve ever used. It spreads easily throughout hair and is easy to wash out. I think it’s helped tame my hair without leaving a lingering fragrance afterward, which is great. My hair definitely feels glossier and less rough after I rinse it out. I wouldn’t say that it’s going to give your hair a total makeover, but it is definitely a good conditioner that helps smooth out flyaways.
Amodimethicone is a conditioning agent that’s found in a few other products that I liked and reviewed in the past, including:
- Kirkland Signature Moisture Conditioner
- The Seaweed Bath Co. Moisturizing Unscented Argan Conditioner
Overall, I think I might still like The Seaweed Bath Co. Moisturizing Unscented Argan Conditioner the best out of all the fragrance-free conditioners I’ve tried, but this one comes in a close second. I like that it’s convenient to purchase it at Target instead of having to order the Seaweed Bath Co. one online (I’ve never seen it in stores).
